Dear fellow citizens!
Please accept my sincere greetings on the 15th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution. The date borders with the 20th anniversary of Ukraine´s independence. These events constitutionally finalized formation of our independent state.
The Constitution has proven its status of the Fundamental Law, a guarantee of state independence and collegiality, a legal foundation and a basis of people's vital activity. It is for the first time in the national history that citizens, their lives, dignity, immunity and security were recognized as the supreme values on the legislative level.
The Constitution has shaped and organized a balanced and integral political system, harmonized it through the law and made the authorities responsible before the citizens and the society. Its political significance is in prioritizing and establishment of the guarantees of democratic development in Ukraine, since people are recognized as bearers of sovereignty and the only source of power.
The Fundamental Law determines the place of Ukraine among the democratic European states, sets the directions and implements the state strategic course towards integration into the European institutions.
A combination of stability and the dynamic character of the document and its long-lasting mission is an initial condition for the future changes in the society, the basis of its consolidation, and a fundamental factor of the effective state management.
At present, it is the task of primary importance to make the politicians and the authorities live in compliance with the Constitution and, using its positive potential, secure predictable development of Ukraine as a democratic, social and legal State.
